How does the Program work?
We will obtain tree seeds, germinate them in our tree nursery and transplant them to planting bags or tubes. We will prepare the soil (plowing, fertilizing, biochar, calcium, etc.) and then we will plant the tree seedlings in cultivation lots on lands we control. We will apply annual fertilizations to the trees, prune them when required and maintain fire breaks. Our forest management is continuous. All of our practices involve natural silviculture and ecoagriculture principles. In 10 years' time we will harvest and market the lumber and buy back your trees from you for more than double your original purchase cost. This means that your tree purchase will make you approximately 7.5% per year compounded annually for 10 years. For example, we will buy back a $12,500 purchase for approximately $26,400. You make money, compensate for your carbon footprint and help the planet. The world needs plantation wood, it is simply no longer sustainable to be cutting down our natural forests.
Our Self-Insurance
In order to make sure we can comply with our financial commitments, we practice self-insurance, which means we plant a second, additional tree of a different species and in a different location. That way if a tree suffers from a plague or disease, or is affected by fire, we still have a second tree to replace the affected tree, making sure your tree purchase yields the anticipated results. While there are some exceptions, such as acts of God like drought or flood, or human political event or war, our self-insurance program is the best way of protecting your tree purchase. Since we share the profits with you, it is in our best interest to make sure that the trees are a success.
